I dont understand why they tried so hard to make a character important when it's obvious they had no idea what to do with her

She's still a rookie, so of course her Pokemon are going to be weak.

if the player character can go from starter pokemon to league champion and subjugating overpowered inter-dimensional gods in like 3 weeks, Lillie has little excuse to at least catch more than two pokemon

Pretty sure she has more than 2 Pokémon but because of how the Battle Tree works you only see two.

She's not a terrible partner, and she's leagues better than the default option, but you're better off scouting good trainers later in the battle tree.

I was hoping her Clefairy would be holding Eviolite. At least it has Friend Guard, but it can't attack for shit because of that Granbull and Scrafty who only have Snarl.

Doesn't even have to be a major character, she can just be a cameo like Cynthia or Looker

But she will likely will make an appearance in Gen 8 in some form

Her whole arc was her standing up and facing her fears. She did, thus her arc came full circle. There's no reason for us to see her get a strong team. We can infer she will in the future.
