I've always wanted to go on a nice, pleasant adventure. Like one in the pokeworld.
So it's a double fantasy to see a cute relationship between two characters in this world.
In reality I'm just a lonely nerd. I'm bad with people and never had many friends growing up. There was one where we'd play pokemon together and it was great! While it lasted.
So yeah, it's just a super vicarious fantasy and emotionally pleasing outlet for a degenerate nerd. It's the sort of thing that makes me smile so it does that, if nothing else.
