Basically what the other two posts said. SM have horrendously bad replay value because cutscenes and railroading, so if you've already played them you won't get nearly as much enjoyment out of UM as you would going in fresh. I have genuinely enjoyed the areas of the game where it differs from SM but they're too few and far between to recommend if you've played SM already.

I’m not sure, since I did play sun, but not since it came out a year and a half ago, so I feel like even a similar experience may feel fresh since it’s been a while

In that case just replay Sun, USUM is SM with 3 or 4 extra additions. It's not worth it, get yourself a new JRPG to have fun with. If you wont take our word for it, look at reviews, look at what people all across the Pokemon fandom are saying about this game. It's the same shit, it's not worth your money.

I honestly think that's why they added new pokemon to the dex. There's literally no other incentive to want these games again and tutors just don't cut it anymore.
