This is such a terrible idea. Pokemon became popular because of how cute they are, but translating cute cartoon animals into photorealistic CGI is going to be nightmarish. They should just keep them cartoonish in realistic surroundings like Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

HOPEFULLY this is fucking placeholder... I mean, the movie's CGI creatures are handled by the same firm that made Rocket Raccoon and Paddington bear. They just started on production recently so they probably don't have any finished models yet.

Source: work in the CG industry and know some people who are currently working on the film.
