The main reason he disappoints people is the typing, but I didn't choose Blaziken or Infernape so I didn't care.

I hated it at first, but man has this guy grown on me. His design is based and everything meshes perfectly. He is leagues above his slender counterparts in terms of stats, design, and broability.

I want to like Emboar, I really do, but my brain sees it as a cruel joke of a starter whereas my heart says that I'm supposed to like a Ganon-esque pokemon

It needlessly competes with Darmanitan for the role of a heavy hitting fire type. It feels needlessly redundant. I can't think of other generations that had two separate pokemon designs that were so similar in their visual and gameplay scenario,

Concept as in what? Just wrestler fire pig? Other anon is right. I was disappointed with it and... The middle one because tepig is a very cute pig then it instantly goes on two legs and loses all similarities. They could've honestly easily had two separate lines because the similarities end with color and species.

I like emboar too but honestly I feel this way moreso with Chesnaught. He's one of my favorite starter pokemon and everyone always shits on him.

Same. Emboar is pretty good but I like Samurott much more, but Chesnaught is by far my favourite Kalos starter mon.

Honestly with all the faults x and y had, it still has by far the best starter trio of any gen. My least favorite is delphox and even that one is pretty rad. With the rogue, mage, warrior aesthetic and the dark psychic fighting triangle thing going on no other gen can compete.

Doesn't make up for nearly every other non stage 1 pokemon in that entire gen being utter ass though.

In terms of design execution, I think Gen 4 and maybe 3(I’m iffy towards Blaziken but it was cool when it debuted) were better. I do agree that 6 was the best terms of concept.

The ganon similarities and cool shiny are the positives that stand out the most for Emboar.

Being the only fire type that gets scald is neat too. Volcanion doesn't count.

I swear to god, looking at how the game progresses and what mons you encounter, we should go back to monotypes asap and never look back. I sure as fuck don't like Psychic and Flying shitters killing my starter over literally nothing.
