Unfortunately I'll have to get it eventually for that same reason. Or maybe I'll try to hack my 3ds, but it is all updated.

I wouldn't even mind another playthrough of alola, it's just I'm morally against giving gamefreak money for some of the most consumer unfriendly practices in the industry.
