In fact, both other factor of two games were delayed a year with Gen 2's G/S being intended for 1998 but releasing in 1999 and Gen 4's D/P being intended for 2005 but releasing in 2006.
And what do those have in common? Well, let's see... While they didn't move to the GBC straight up until mid-Gen 2, they were being programmed with the GBC in mind. MEanwhile D/P were the first DS games.
In other words, all three essentially have being on a new system in common.
