I'm rewatching the first pokemon movie and I have to say nothing was more spectacular than seeing Donphan for the first time.

They used to show sneak peek of new pokemon in the movies or the anime but I think that stopped in gen 3 when they showed Munchlax in the Deoxys movie

I remember reading a book of the movie first, and getting confused when they mentioned Donphan. With just a name to go on, I always pictured it as some new dolphin Pokémon I’ve never heard of.

Good to know that it was actually an elephant tire that looked pretty cool in the movie itself.

They kinda did the same thing with Togepi as well. It just hatched and that was it, Togepi was part of the team without a whole lot of "HOLY SHIT IS THAT A NEW POKEMON QUICK GET A 10 SECOND CLOSE-UP SHOT" shenanigans.

I kinda wanna watch Movie 2 but also wanna play SS until then. But looks like I will just watch it today.

It was kind of insane how we saw Munchlax 2 years prior to it's generation. I think part of why gen 3 felt so long to me was that we knew of newer Pokemon for ages.
