USUM bored me. I don't think they were necessarily bad, I'm just in my 20s and not as easily pleased by third versions as I used to be. I got to the third island and stopped. I think a lot of us are hoping to recapture some of that mystery the games had when we were kids, and when it inevitably doesn't happen we get bored. This is made worse by the newer games being even more linear and story focused, like a pretty theme park ride. The switch brings a lot of promise, I hope gamefreak uses it, but if they don't I won't be surprised.
