>>34842851Adding to this, everyone just uses the official sprites instead of taking the time to resprite them, which creates a really awkward and jarring contrast and makes it feel a lot less professional. If you're going to mix them anyway, it really goes a long way if you take the time to resprite all of the official Pokémon you use - that way, they'll feel more like they belong together a lot more than if you have a weird mix
Obviously this is a lot of work, but it adds so much more than people realize. If you're going to take the time to sprite and design an entire Fakedex, surely you'll want to do what you can to make people appreciate them and make them fit together? I gather most people who mix them aren't exactly using 649 Pokémon with canon sprites AND Fakemon, haha; it's not like you'll have to do every single Pokémon in existence, just the ones you deem necessary for your mix.
(And the practice spriting official Pokémon will get you a much better feeling for what makes your designs fit in, so it's worth it from a design standpoint as well.)
Also, don't you dare make just "a few" Fakemon to suit your purposes, or, worse, anything like Zeta/Omicron with uncatchable Fakemon for no reason but to make this one Trainer stand out and have... robots? Was that what it was? Honestly. You have to commit to using Fakemon or they'll be out of place no matter how good they are. What's the point of making any if you're not actually making a proper Generation, so to speak? You're just compromising your game's ability to be taken seriously in the eyes of those who don't like Fakemon AND failing to appeal to those who do. At the same time. It's... dumb.
