But they dont have to. The recent releases already move to another regions. TCG was promoting Sinnoh, now its moving to Kalos

VC release was focusing on Johto

Pokemon GO is heavily focusing on Hoenn

They're not gonna keep full Kanto pandering because there's no need for it anymore. People love other regions aswell and right now they're looking for new adventure in gen 8. New region, new Pokemon. Sure they might sneak some Kanto pandering here and there but thats all

Because the best way to start a new gen for over 20 years was to introduce a brand new world with new mons, story, characters and gimmicks

Stop pretending that only gen 1 sells. Pokemon in general sells like hot cakes (main games that is). They know that all they have to do is sprinkle some nostalgia onto new games (and no not only gen 1 nostalgia) and they'll have fantastic results (see DP, XY and SM sales)

Actually if they're to produce a game with such relatively little time compared to other titles, remakes in general make the most sense.

And what region makes the most sense to do that for? Not Gen 4+ because that's basically just a graphic update. This also means not Gen 2 or 3 because they had Gen 4+ remakes.

Kanto is the only one left in the pre-split era and it overall makes the most sense because that's what the other big games did on the Switch.

BotW = New Legend of Zelda, Odyssey = New SM64 (the first 3D Mario title).
