GF has like 45 people that´s waaaay to small for 3d games. 2D was not that hard, they hired some artists and they made the art for the game and the programmers made the logic.
With 3D programmers, they now also need 3D modellers, so some people needed to make 3D modelling, now they programmed it with a z-axis so programmers need to learn more shit.
Also they need to be faster with the games, because they fear that kids may be forgetting about them. Because nowadays Kids can access to like 1 Billion games in the app store for free. That´s why there is now so much handholding, GF fears that anything will be to hard and they stop playing and get easily distracted by something else.
If someone says GF "make a 2D sprite based game again" they would probably make a real pokemon game again.
