by far, my favorite romhack is polished crystal, you should try it out

It's pretty much Emerald with ORAS mechanics, gen 6 mons, movesets, mega evos and all that.

Playable from start to finish and enjoyable all the while, but contains a game breaking glitch if you participate in any of the battle tents or the frontier. Contests don't function at all. Double battles don't work at times, though that's situational. Keep save states, always.

386 hacks. You don't get an expanded dex like Emerald but the mechanics are still updated to current standards and the difficulty is tweaked so it's not easy mode,
