>>34859974>You either handicap yourself in battles by sending it out first then switchingI don't see the problem. Before gen 6 you could even just equip it with the exp share and call it a day and wild pokemon usually aren't THAT far behind that it becomes a problem.
Even with bred pokemon I'd hardly call that "a wall" and grinding "necessary", it's a very minor setback, which is kind anice to have as an adult to make the game a tiny little less easy and of no importance as a child because being so young even grinding feels exciting.
>Remember being 10? I had shit like a Typhlosion with 4 fire movesMy silver typhlosion had ember, flame wheel, fire blast and strength. The only time I grinded in G/S was after losing to Claire, a grinded my whole party one level, tried again and won. I was 11 at the time.
When I was 10 I did grind more though: once I grinded my strongest pokémon to beat Misty's starmie (it felt great actually) and again before the league because I was terribly scared of the E4 (and my emulator being buggy, savescumming would delete my save data). I reached level 72 with my whole party and never actually challenged the E4.
Thinking back to it and how I beat it two years after, I probably would have been fine without grinding anyway, I had a nice stock of revives and potions and no money left to lose since I had already caught and evolved absolutely everything possible that wasn't mewtwo.
