Smeargle can no longer use Dark Void (and DV itself got nerfed to hell with 50% accuracy). Amoonguss' nerf isn't specifically for it, but Safety Goggles was introduced because of the Spore spam in Worlds 2013 (?), also how powder (which Spore is part of) don't affect grass types. And this reminds me, they also indirectly nerfed Thundurus because he can't paralyze electric types anymore.

That's a broad question, but generally a core is around 3 Pokemon that work well together with things like good type synergy or covering each other's flaws

Playing with the team. Seriously, you won't know if you don't test it.

Take notes of the pokemon tht you bring the most, and the ones that aren't being useful or that are failing their jobs, and slowly fix it.

Literally any big tournament had different stuff in top cut. CHALK wasn't even a thing before worlds in the west. You're full of shit and are generalizing the entire format because of worlds. If anything, VGC14 was more of a "put Kang in any team and call it a day"', which ended up killing her in worlds because everybody overprepared for her. Also, I can already see you saying it's a "meme team" if it isn't full of the top 10 most used stuff.

I guess that's just something you understand by knowing the meta and trying it out in matches. For your example, Lando and Celesteela obviously work well together with the typing and EQ immunity but I don't know if Raichu supports them well enough to be considered a core to build around.

As an example one of the most common simple cores right now is Koko/Charizard Y/Lando. The reason they work so well is because when Koko+Zard are out on the field they have crazy offensive pressure with their combination of moves, and Landorus in the back is there to switch in on electric/ground attacks aimed at either of them, support with Intimdate so they can survive an attack, and beats things like Tyranitar which can threaten both Koko and Charizard.

That can be specific team strategies like weather, Trick Room, having a dedicated supporter to help a sweeper, etc. Again it's something that comes easier with just gaining experience from playing and learning the meta.

Wait, how do I determine Koko + ZardY are a good combo with Lando? I mean, the typing isn't obvious (the typing core is dragon/steel/fairy and steel is lacking) and literally the only way I can figure that out is if someone else told me. I wouldn't on my own.
