I was in physics class today and thought this could be a new potential type, of course it would have interactions with steel and electric types, but those are the only ones I can think for now, what do you think?

Magnet type would be stupid. It would be the least populated typing in the game because gamefreak doesn't want to make a bunch of pokemon modeled after magnets

But it would be a little underpopulated. They’d only be able to retype a few like probabpass, magnetite line, plusle and minun possibly just to name a few off the top of my head. I think either they’d have to introduce a decent amount of new magnet type Pokémon in a new gen or introduce another new type or two that are also a bit unpopulated like gravity so it can be seen as a “rare” type

Nigga it makes more sense to have a type of one of the 4 fundamental forces of the universe like gravity then it does to have a plant based type, something solely known on one world

Also I don’t really like magnetic Pokémon to be steel typed, since most steel aren’t even magnetic

But most Steel pokemon are magnetic, since most learn Magnet Rise, among other moves.

Also, really the only pokemon that would make this idea work are Nose/Probopass, Magnezone, and Metagross.

Too close to either steel or electric by concept.
You'd have better chance chipping off fishes from water types or birds from flying and making proper air.

Space is the least close from existing types and has things that would fit in, and something like atomic would buff bug types in meta.

I am thinking about a spin-1/2 gimmickmon which have a signature move called "Axis Rotation". Basically, it's a cloud of probability until it gets hit, which makes its wave function collapse, making it more defensive- or offensive-oriented. Axis Rotation would change it to the cloud of probability once again.
Maybe evolve to a H2+ molecule gimmickmon, which can collapse both to the bonding/antibonding state.

Only austenitic steels aren't, so most steels are magnetic.
