The regional pokedex is updated to include evolutions such as Crobat and Steelix, Eeveelutions maybe a few other Johto pokes and a few other where it fits, such as the Togepi line.
Some areas of the region has had a massive development since then.
The post-game is Johto.
Silver is part of the Elite 4, his primary type being Dark with a few exceptions.
