One time he said that he was Espeon. He said that Espeon can use telekinesis to move things with his mind and started throwing stuff at me. I said it didn't work because I was a Houndour, which was a dark type, so he started throwing more stuff at me and I kept pretending like it didn't hurt because I needed to live up to my dark typing.

Another time, I said that I was Machamp and my ultimate attack was Cat Cannon. My brother got confused when I said this, giving me a chance to throw our pet cat at him. The cat scratched him across the face, knocked over a table, and ran away. Bro cried and we weren't allowed to play Pokemon anymore.

In Platinum I caught a shiny Zubat in Wayward Cave and eventually evolved it into a Golbat. Unfortunately with young me being dumb, it was short lived about halfway through my playthrough, my Monferno evolved into Infernape and I thought it looked stupid. So I decided to restart so I could choose a different starter and that thus my shiny Golbat was lost forever. I didn't even realize what I had done until a couple years later when I found out how rare shinies really were.

I did this with kadabra in gen1, it was still op though. Also thought the game is broken when my pokemon was poisoned, fell for the truck meme, things like that. I was so proud when I actually got mew through that one method in yellow

Guy I knew wouldnt spend money in anything since he was saving for the bicycle, he also used masterball on seaking because he thought it was so rare

I also did the pokedoll skip in lavender town because I somehow couldnt find the silph co

Me and a group of 15 or so friends all played pokemon together. We challenged eachother to see who could catch em all first. Unfortunately none of us even knew the link cable was a thing so ended up spending a shit ton of time trying to find missing version exclusive pokemon in our games

It's GSC cartridges that are most definitely dead. This is a very well-known design problem of the cartridges.

Traded a Yellow version Pikachu to Red to see if it would follow me. When I traded it back it didn't follow me in Yellow. Had to start over.

I thought DUX/Farfetch'd was the best pokemon in Red version. To be fair, he got a lot of crits and leveled up quickly. Also half my team was normal/flying.

Used Master Ball on Kyogre. My BFF at the time caught it in a pokeball in his game. I was salty.

Chased Latias all around Hoenn and didn't realize I could just soft-reset in the same patch of grass.

Caught a shiny zubat in sapphire. Powered off without saving since I was paranoid it was a glitch that would delete my save data. I knew about shinies but I thought it was different because shiny zubat in GSC were green and this one looked black on my shitty GBA screen.

I was hardly a kid at this point but: it took me a little too long to notice the physical/special split in moves in DPP.

As long as the pikachu has your OT and ID, it should follow you and even retain its latest happiness stat. You could catch another pikachu through cheating/glitches or trade it from another game (as long as OT and ID are the same) and it would behave exactly as the original one, unless the original one is already in your party before the extra one.

p sure that's not true because I remember trading mine away and back so it would become a normal pikachu and then I could evolve it into based stronk raichu.

To be fair switching routes and checking is less tedious than reaching the end of the pokédex after every reset.

I traded my Yellow Pikachu to my Red version to evolve it in hopes that when I got it back it would follow me around as Raichu and I'd be the only kid in school with a following Raichu. It didn't work, sadly, but I stuck with it anyway because Raichu's cool.

I did that, but I didn't have the sense to save before I started the battle. Then I'd do it all over again when I ran out of balls to chuck at it. Paralyzed and at literally 1HP and it was still nearly impossible to catch.

We know, but having pikachu follow you was a nice feature that wouldn't return for another decade and it's not like you need your team to be optimal to beat pokémon. My sister wasn't a gamer or a frequent pokemon player and she beat ruby with a torchic anyway.
