Secondly, when you work on a big translation project you typically work longer than 6 months and normally extend your contract for another 6 months and so on depending on your quality, especially when strategy guides and other printed media are involved (Which they are for a Pokemon game). This is why the editor's contract is fixed at 1 year, because he or she will need to stick with the project all the way through. Even if the localization editor started in April (Which as mentioned, would not be the case), there would be no reason to pay him/her for an extra 6 months after the game has been released - you would simply have them on a 6 month contract too.
