>>34919649A few years ago, I actually made a Dwarf Fighter for Pokemon tabletop united. He was an Athlete/Enduring Soul/Martial Artist (Guts)/Roughneck
He wasn't exactly a serious character, but actually wound up being a pretty cool guy.
He had a Haxorus, an Excadrill, an Onix/Steelix, and a revolving door of other pokemon that usually died pretty quickly, generally smaller powerhouses that he could manually throw into battle. I remember for a while, he had about 10 Sandile he caught at once, and burned through over 3 sessions.
Onix was mostly a grapple stooge. Seriously, Onix and Steelix are fucking broken if you use them right.
Excadrill and Haxorus were the pokemon he actually used, though generally he was a very order-light trainer, considering how much shit he wrecked by himself.
Near the end, I worked out an arrangement to get "Living Weapon" on Haxorus, so through his last battles, he was swinging a dragon/axe.
He was every bit the stereotypical Dwarf Fighter. He cursed, got drunk, ate chicken fingers, looked for treasure, had a fondness for industry, tradition, and order, hit things with his waraxe, had a mighty beard that he once defeated a poliwag with, talked in a bad scottish accent that came and went with my mood, and had a diet that consisted of meat, bread, and beer without too much variation.
He absolutely did not value his pokemon besides Haxorus once it became his axe, as the fact that he had three open "fodder" slots should tell. He was one of the more fun trainers I've ever run, even if he was only okay mechanically.
Realistically, I should have gone Taskmaster or Ground Expert, and dropped Roughneck and Enduring Soul but it just didn't seem right.
