Hey, I just realized something
Why are some of the Pokemon games on the DS black instead of the grayish color the rest of the DS cartridges have?

I may be wrong, but I believe it's because the cartridges had built-in infra red capabilities, which the original DS line lacked.

Correct. HGSS used it for the Pokewalker and Gen V used it for local connection. Notice that DPP don't have it.
I wonder if any other DS games besides Pokemon used it.
