gallade could use all of medicham's, however
anyone that seriously thought mega gallade could have ever competed with the superior psychic/fighting probably liked Wally's ORAS theme as well

Not a terrible ability by any stretch. Game Freak clearly had doubles in mind and wanted there to be a Mega Evolution that wasn't going to be deterred by Fake Out.

Fake Out isn't as practical in Singles as it is in Doubles, so this is why it isn't as valuable in that format.

Many Pokemon that are garbage in Singles are actually well suited for Doubles, because this is the official metagame.
