So I took a break after ORAS, looking to get back into it now. Is there any point in getting S/M or should I just jump right into US/UM? As a semi-competitivefag, would it be worth it to wait for D/P remakes to get into the latest meta version?

SM's pretty obsolete mechanics-wise. You're only missing out on some story things if you go to USUM.

Don't get SM,only thing they have over USUM is story,and you won't find anyone else that tells you otherwise.

USUM obviously. The only better thing of SM is the plot which Lusamine is slightly but you can see this on YouTube or something like that
