Definitely yes.
Pokémon XY are the first games with the highest level of difficulty in 3D development, mega-evolutions, competitions, fairy-type, story and more.
Pokémon XY in the anime, has had a great development of characters, dreams, stories and many things that seemed to see a real life version of a new complete game of nintendo

So much potential wasted with no explanations to the war, AZ is still just randomly thrown in the game, Zygarde had pretty much no presence in the game, the rivals desperately needed to grow the fuck up, and overall make it more memorable. I cannot name off the top of my head any area in kalos.

But that can be said about every first game in Pokemon series because iff you havent noticed yet GF never did that. At least XY had good reasons for being incomplete (being the first 3D game, new console game, first worldwide release) unlike SM for example

Yeah just like Rayquaza in RS, Giratina in DP, Kyurem in BW and Necrozma in SM. Zygarde was supposed to get a game but it didnt because GF had to rush new gen for the annivesary

What is Mega Evolution?
ORAS and USUM have shit on Mega Evo so much it's obvious GameFreak tried an emergency partial birth abortion.
They've utter disowned the concept while fully backing Z-Moves which they stole from Yo-Kai Watch.

ORAS adresses megas even stronger than XY and while its true SM toned it down in favor of Z-moves megas still return big time in Episode RR with Lysandre and Giovanni using ones. ot to mention all strongest trainers having one in Battle Tree

GF wants to try new things all the time thats why gen 8 will obviously have new gimmicks aswell

OS' best episodes were where Shudo went off the deep end. Tower of Terror, Maiden's Peak, Saffron Gym, Bill and the Lighthouse, etc.
Those very atmospheric, mysterious episodes aren't present in the rest of the series. The closest we came was the ghost story in Generations.
Once you strip that away, it's just about the battles. OS battles were unpredictable so the painful asspulls that became common in later seasons weren't so common.
Aside from that and BW, I agree.

Yes to be honest. Kalos had plenty of great idea going for it. The first quarter of the game is really well paced and the pokemon selection is fantastic.

It starts to fall apart when Megas get introduced but never used. Then the lore and flare parts get a little wonky. No full on gym and elite 4 matches were a massive mistake. Chateau just isn't the same.

The snow section taking place long before the ice leader is wierd. Could have used a box legendary area.

I'm convinced that the decision to bail affected Zygarde negetively. I honestly believe his "forms" where invented for the anime first, then the games.

Given how its complete form isn't even permanent is disappointing as fuck desu.

If it actually was a boxart mascot then it probably would had been a permanent form change or a in-battle gimmick tied to a player related item or something.

Buy a 3DS with hackable firmware or at least get what you need to install CFW later. 2DS is fine, the only objectively best choice is a "New" model (whether it's 2DS or XL doesn't matter).

Even if you factor out piracy, there are still application-related perks like custom themes, dumping DS/3DS save data (particularly useful for 3DS games that don't let you do the standard backup like Pokemon, Animal Crossing, and Super Smash Bros. and for editing Pokemon saves with PKHex), and the app that gives you any play coins you earn past your first 10. I'm still using exploits for the time being so I have no chance of being banned from online play, though that mostly happens to people playing pirated pre-release Pokemon games online.
