Reposting from like a year ago. I no longer agree with some of them, especially a lot of the Light Types, but I think this still serves as a good window into what could be.

Yes, sadly. I like Fairy and I think it was a wise addition, but it was the final nail in the coffin for Light Types. The truth is that they could STILL introduce Light Types, but it would feel incredibly redundant now....

Light just wouldn't add too much that isn't sort of already there. I keep hoping the Pokémon series will go through a cosmic reset, where certain types are removed in order to make room for others. For example, Psychic is awesome, but if we completely removed it along with Fairy, it would pave the way for Magic, Light and Cosmic types. If you removed Poison, Dark and Ghost, you could rework their elements into Nuclear and some sort of "Death" type. The same thing, but expressed and explored in new ways.

Works better as a move property than as an elemental type; could very well buff mons who specialize in Sound-based moves with an Iron Fist/ Mega Launcher-esque ability by which sound based moves deal more damage. Doing so resolves the "gray area" effect where mons whose current typing makes sense while providing flavor and improving upon their current movepool (ex. Noivern line and Boomburst)

Literally Psychic type, further cemented by the Gen VII Legendary line and the fact that virtually every Cosmic type pokemon you suggested are already Psychic type.

>Light Type

I could see this becoming a move property similar to Sound type above, give moves like Solarbeam the ability to hit through Light Screen with full damage or something. No need for a "Holy" type given that Fairy does that already without bringing Judeo-Christian shit into my precious Shintonese monster collector.

tl;dr you don't need three new Pokemon types to shake up the metagame/ buff your favorite shitmons

Memes aside, it's head is a yin yang symbol. It's not actually evil either, in fact it's quite heroic even, so really Light fits it better than Dark does, if anything.

To me, Psychic has always been about the psyche, I think even Gamefreak intend that since it's weaknesses are based on common phobias.
So things like telepathy, telekinesis, knowledge, mystical things, etc, I don't see the connection to aliens, space, meteors, planets, gravity etc, I think they just put most Cosmic themed things in Psychic cause it 'kinda' falls into the mystical side of things.

I think bringing in a Cosmic type wouldn't be too farfetch'd, if Light could fit into Psychic as well, Fairy did a good job and making the 2 different.

Japanese pop culture associates Space/Astrology with Psychics and ESP

There's also an element of Shinto mysticism, which also relates to astrology

If you still need proof, just look at how many Psychic type Pokemon are related to space/aliens. It's not a coincidence or a placeholder type like Normal, Psychic is the type that best represents these Pokemon.
