Why doesn't Lana, or any of her family have sclera? It's specifically noted on her design sheet that she doesn't have them.
Never seen it on another character before, from any other series. Anyone have any ideas?

From what I've heard, it's a way of denoting chinese ethnicity for animu characters without the discriminatory connotations of slanted eyes. But that's just what I heard from some shmuck so I could be wrong.

its just a small quirk in the character design
the fact that you've noticed and remember her for it means that it's working
you're thinking to hard about it

I don't think it's that serious. Some characters are just drawn like that. I know Lana's character design did art for Bakemongatari, so it's likely it was just a stylistic choice to make her stand out a bit more.
