Primarina's my favorite, so of course I wanted it to be popular. I didn't expect it to beat A-Vulpix and Lycanroc, but it was a pretty good surprise. GF probably feels the same way.

Do you think that gamefreaks cares who is and who isn't popular? They only want to sell their merch regardless of pokemon. If Decidueye was the intended shillmon but it's still the less popular it doesn't matter for gamefreak. They will make money with the other pokemon instead.

It's quite impressive that it surpassed Alolan Vulpix (another Pokémon aimed towards girls who gets much more anime/merch exposure) and Lycanroc, though, especially since it's the only Pokemon in the top 10 who has yet to make its debut in the anime. I didn't see it coming.

Decidueye was in pokken because of the popularity it inherently has by virtue of being a starter, having an unique fighting style and possibly them not wanting to include more fire types. Why does it always have to come down to shilling? It's just the most obvious choice.

Do you really think GF cares even a little about the shitty opinions of fans? Fans who think an open world is the best thing to make a good game when are a lot of ways better. It's in Pokken and that's literally it. Rowlet doesn't even evolve in the anime. They literally just threw it in Pokken DX as Gen VII representation and left it at that.

You do realize it had nothing to do with popularity right? Pokken was sorely lacking grass types and also wanted a new gen 7 pokemon in the roster. Plus, Decidueye admittedly had the most moveset potential for a fighting game as 1: how the fuck would Primarina even move and 2: Incineroar would just be a firey Machamp in terms of playstyle since Machamp already has the pro-wrestling character type covered. Decidueye was the only one they could really make a unique moveset around since almost all of Incineroars moves were taken by other characters.
