>>34956260Ash was overwhelmed by Elesa's Zebstrika. He saw it completely wreck over Bianca's team when she fought Elesa. Ash realized Pikachu wouldn't be any good against Zebstrika, and he tried to scramble together the shitmons he had that could beat her.
Ash went for broke with Palpitoad and intended for that Pokemon to beat the gym, but he underestimated Elesa's Emolga. Then Ash went with Snivy, who resisted Electric-type moves and was immune to Emolga's Attract, but forgot it was part Flying-type. Then Ash finally went with Pikachu and beat the other 2 Electric-types as a result of his skill.
This episode was an example of Ash trying to think with his head and screwing up because he is a guts person instead.
