Part of me isn't surprised about that since the other Kahunas are bait or have "le funnay character quirk xd", but part of me is also disappointed because she's my favorite Gen 7 character. Just watching her become the Kahuna and being one of the more realistic characters in the series makes me wish she appeared more often

She didn't really have much in terms of quirkiness, but she was pretty down to earth and her character development was pretty well grounded around the goals she was aiming for.

The competition was pretty tough, but I'm still surprised she lost to Olivia. Olivia is pretty hot, but she's completely unremarkable aside from that, whereas Hapu at least has more interaction with the main characters.

Hapu did say she got her way of speaking through living with her grandmother her whole life and living in Poni Island, a place with a small population
It is a character quirk but at least there was a justification for it unlike, say, Olivia's "i am a single woman and i am sad about it and the japs love this kind of humor"

Happu was the only Kahuna to travel around with you and legitimately help you out in your endeavors. She was there when you went into the wormhole and shit, battled you to prove your worth as a new Kahuna and was general a pretty nice individual who taught Lillie some good lessons.

Believe me, I would never underestimate the power of waifufaggotry. But this series has no shortage of waifus. I mean, hell, even some of the random NPC trainers are hot as fuck. Just look at those swimmers and some of those new pokemon. I just don't think Olivia is that memorable if all she has to bring to the table is ungodly hotness, since that's such a common thing in this series.

True, but this is the first time it feels Pokemon went out of it's way to make a character have a ton of sex appeal. Olivia has one of the skimpiest outfits in the series that they give her a jacket in the anime. They even make a joke ingame where says tells the player to stare at her thighs while she does the Z dance.

Anyway I adore Hapu, but with Lillie, Moon, Acerola, Lana and Mallow all vying for most popular loli type, I'm not surprised Hapu didn't place. I still like her though.
