Gladion and Lillie are clones of Lusamine created in order to harness the power of Type: Null and Cosmog respectively. There is a secret room in the Aether Foundation that contains many failed clones in cryosleep that only Lusamine and Faba know about. Their escape was done on purpose to test their abilities.
