It doesn't it's your brain thinking it does because of the urgency during those arcs. That being said magma cavern and sky tower are still difficult but there endgame dungeons anyway.

I used to find it fucking difficult when I was a kid, but since I've thought of a few strategies over the years. Might download the emulator and try them out. For example, if you have a fire or grass started, you should always pick a fire or grass partner because you can both utilize sunny say, if you get a water starter pick a grass partner because then you can use rain dance without the fire partner being hindered.

Playing RT again made me realize that nearly everything was made harder in Explorers.

>basically everything in stores cost more, the warp scarf went from 50 gold to 1200
>everything sells for far less
>attacks deal less damage all around
>tight belt is almost impossibly rare
>Sonicboom was heavily nerfed so Electrode isn't any good in level 1
>teleport has far less uses so Alakazam is useless in level 1

Any difficulty increase is more than mitigated by the fuckhuge inventory explorers gives you. 48 slots is fucking ridiculous when shit like the reviver seed exists.

yeah i pretty much always had something that did shit against articuno
because every time i played the game i feel i couldn't be a water starter or have one with how easy they are to get after you beat rayquaza

i do hope we get cubone as a starter again on this note

The only way I can see random missions being entertaining is if they bring back some sort of GtI-style base building. Otherwise why would I bother with randomly generated missions in randomly generated dungeons for some randomly generated reward, when I've already completed all the meaningful content in the game?
