Sandshrew in Gold waaaay back in the day, wee fuck escaped all my pokéballs I had at the time and wouldn't let me run away, so think I turned off the game, rather than kill it (was still disgusted mind).

The last time I failed was a shiny Celesteela; I accidentally soft reset over it. I reclaimed it the following morning.

I legit don't care about balltism, but I ran out of Ultra balls after the quick ball failed, was unsure if Dusk balls worked in Ultra Space as it wasn't a night sky, but was night time when I was playing and actually tried to get it with a dive ball (got 3 shakes twice) before running out. Only had balls I'd consider utter shit, looks and effects-wise, so started on the last of my stock from my Salandit/Salazzle hunt from earlier in the year. Thankfully It decided to call one home.

That Articuno was my first SR hunt I didn't guive up. Honestly? Just keep going, don't make hunting it the focus of your attention, but don't go full autopilot like some people have and risk losing a shiny by SR over it. gif related.

You gotta pace yourself. Hunt maybe half an hour to an hour, close up the game for a bit and do something else, then come back to it. Also, every time I open the game, right before I go back to my hunt, I dick around in Pelago and Festival Plaza for a bit, then save and start hunting, just so I can't say my time running the game was completely wasted. Also, don't count your resets. It just makes it feel longer and more agonizing. And most importantly, don't give up.

As of Xurkitree, I've caught every UB you can get in UM. Next task is get everything exclusive to Ultra Sun, plus Poipole/Naganadel.
