Gen 5 is the best generation in the whole series. Have been playing since the beginning. Gen 6 is also pretty great even though I prefer Gen 2-4 over it.

It had the worst new Pokemon, the 2nd worst region (only alola is worse), started the bad-fanfiction-of-a-story-is-more-important-than-gameplay horseshit that's killing all of the newer games, and removed the battle frontier. BW and SM are contenders for the worst game in the series.

game can still be made plenty challenging. And outside of their teams it handle Gym Leaders the best in the entire series. Also Dream World was plenty good just poor forethought on their part.
