Kalos Ash, though very good in terms of overall competence, doesn't really feel like an evolution of Sinnoh Ash to me. He lacks the sort of arrogance and hotheadedness that Sinnoh Ash portrayed, which made him a much more interesting character since he developed in spite of his flaws rather than by discarding them like Kalos Ash did when coming from BW.
