Plenty of Pokemon can just naturally be based on prehistoric stuff without needing to have Rock on them. That's kinda my problem with gen 4 and gen 6 fossilmons; they keep using the slots of fossilmons with dinosaurs when you can just as easily make a regular Pokemon a dinosaur and give the fossilmon moniker to the more obscure prehistoric dudes
And then gen 5 confused the fuck out of me even more when they made a sea turtle a fossilmon. That's some backwards-ass logic
