Playing it for the first time right now mate, just bopped all 5 Kimono Girls and got my Surf HM.
Taking a break and then I'll go whoop Morty.
Using: Kadabra, Totodile, Growlithe, Togepi, Skiploom and Elekid.
Planning on dropping Elekid, looking to get an Eevee for Umbreon ASAP.
Game's fun!

Did that with an emulated save but it kept causing the game to freeze every time I tried to play Gym Leader castle.

Crystal felt so good. It was the first time I could play as a female character too and it felt really nice being lost in a world where everything was good.

Red was nice too but Crystal was perfect.

Gold, Silver, and especially Crystal really nail the outdoorsy/exploring mood. It uses color really well too. Pre-Advance Gameboy tech peaked with Crystal

Worked for me using my exported VC save. I was using pj64, but after running it a few times it turns it adds a piece of shit 1 minute popup that wants you to donate to the devs. Would not recommend.

Exactly. It felt like you were trailing through the grass and woods with the nice moody dusk and dawn colors and gentle music until you finally hit cities. Nothing yet has mimicked that feel. Even the Pokemon were part of that feel.

Slowly but steady i make the perfect vanilla romhack, what i do is fix most of the game's bugs and glitches and added features such as gym rematches and unlimited TM uses, its not done yet but i've done plenty and i play through it now on my DS via R4 instead of using an emulator on PC so i can have that original handheld feel. I also replaced the battery of my SP because it got swollen so if i also wanna play my copy of Gold i can do that aswell.

Its nothing like that, its just crystal but with things that dont work actually do but tiny changes are in there too for completing the pokedex and more. I was also thinking about adding more battle tower rewards maybe rare candies or masterballs

If you mean the celebi event, yes. You can either use cheats to activate it or get the GS Ball or the event can be enabled to work as intented if you do some changes in the game's coding. My hack re-enables it so the moment you walk out of Goldenrod's pokemon center you will recieve the GS Ball and progress the event.
