What Pokemon should I use as my starter? I used Charmander in my last playthrough, so I'm only really considering Bulbasaur or Squirtle. Also listening to any recommendations to which Pokemon I should try out.

Squirtle is a decent choice. Just know that you will have to teach it Water Pulse for the first half of the game. Then Surf will be your only decent attacking move till E4.

Nidoking is always a solid choice, as well as Kadabra. Elsewise idk.

Bulbasaur is basically easy mode, as it can tear through the first 2 gyms and resists the next 2

Gamble until you can buy the Porygon, then beat the game with that. Use Bulbasaur until you reach Celadon.

Use a Muk if you choose Squirtle. Takes time to catch one but it's fantastic.

Nobody uses Porygon. No idea with Jigglypuff, but I think Muk is actually pretty bulky.

Muk is just cool brah. Looks his best in LG. Has nice defensive stats, can hit hard, and doesn't afraid of anything

Not the OP but I used both in my last Crystal run.
Tauros does great once you get him Return.
Lapras does pretty well with Surf/Ice Beam, but I found that in some cases she is a bit too slow so I'd feed her some Carbos. No problems with damage output.

due to the badge boost there's basically no bad team you can make in leafgreen, but the teams mentioned in the thread are good and cool pokemon
