I started farming ribbons in XY when I hatched this little cutie. Modest, Hidden Power Fire with 0 Attack but rolled Overgrow instead of Chlorophyll unfortunately. Still need to transfer it to gen7.

I cheated to make this bellossom shiny and while I was at it I cheated in the purification ribbon. Now it's sullied forever.

It was disappointing when they went and combined all contest and battle ribbons. Getting them all was hell.

You still have to get and harvest them.
And then if you have to blend them solo, I think Mossdeep was still the best place to do it.
So really, in practical terms the only use of the other contest sites is making shitty pokeblocks and filling up your pokemon before it maxes the necessary stats.

To be honest I don't quite remember what I did with my bellossom, but good TMs were rare so it probably involved something like that.
I just know that I hyperoptimized the hell out of it with three consoles, three games and one person helping to get near max stats, since losing the first round could hurt a lot, but not how the rest went.

But since it doesn't differentiate them anymore, winning all basic level contests will give you a higher number than winning all hard contests of one category.

i think it included growth+bullet seed, as well as faint attack but i don't remember...
also, a chain combo is something that i didn't manage to get to work

They might have handed out some ribbons in tournaments and stuff like that though, so add those if you ever learn about them.
Event pokémon also get one exclusive ribbon but since they'll be missing out on a lot of Hoenn ribbons (and frequently battle ribbons) they can't win.

Stuff like Spelon/Pamtre involves saying very specific phrases. To my knowledge they're weaker than the Pinch berries, it's only one a day, and if your cart's battery is dead, you can't get more than 1 of the 5 berries

Pokemon PvP is just pretty garbage, especially considering the amount of RNG shit that, while is entertaining and makes for interesting concepts, throws balance aside. It's not that PvP isn't fun, it's just kind of stupid.
