I despise gen 4. After replaying DPP I realized that gen 4 was the lowest point in the series.
I also loved sun and moon although they don't have much replay value and US/UM sucked by enhanced version standards.

Leaving aside the excessive amount of unskippable cutscenes and the fact that you have to play as Lillie’s bodyguard, I don’t get the hate for Gen VII.

I prefer USUM over SM any day of the week.

I expect another Pokémon Red remake, although I would prefer a sequel.

I fucking despise Mimikyu and Celesteela. Mimikyu is a cool concept for a legendary/mythical but not for a regular mon, whereas Celesteela doesn’t even look like a Pokémon (inb4 UBs are not supposed to look like Pokémon hurr durr). I just hate those two.

Poipole is by far the best Ultra Beast.

I can't stand the idea of an Ultra Beast being anyone's favorite Pokémon.

I’m still waiting for Pokémon Z / X2. I loved Kalos and I wish it had been more expanded.

PWT is the best facility in the entire franchise.

It's shit when gamefreak makes a bloated dex (xy), and its shit when fans do it, too

please, guys, try to design your region and boss fights a little. don't throw a huge diversity of good pokemon at me right away, that's the easiest way to remove challenge from a pokemon game

1. I can't stand playing through the Johto Games. The awful level curve is just unbearable for me. Also movepools/selection of good Pokemon to use is very limited.
2. I think Diamond and Pearl is the best Anime they've ever made, with XY not being far behind (the only reason I think DP is better than XY is Ash's team)
3. I hate electric types. I don't know why but I just think they're all pretty boring and don;t really have much going for them expect for Thunderbolt and Paralyzing

For me, PWT is the only post-game facility that I find interesting. I'm not particularly that interested in fighting NPCs over and over, I prefer to go find other players if I want to battle but in the event that I do wish to simply have a few battles for whatever purpose (usually to use a Pokemon that I don't normally get the chance to in-game) then PWT is by far the most appealing thing. Register, have just three battles in a flashy Tournament format and get out. I understand that Battle Dome is essentially the same thing, but the big thing that sets PWT apart for me is not being streak based. As soon as the three battles are up (or I prematurely lose), that's it; it lets me feel more freedom in experimenting with random shitmons or strategies since I don't have any pressure to keep winning.

I have a lot of nostalgia for XY.

Besides getting into competitive breeding (which XY still remains my favorite method) and shiny hatching, I thought the characters were cute, and it's a surprisingly emotional story that isn't awkward like Black / White.

On two separate occasions I almost cried.

Ruby and Sapphire were so godawful that I was turned off of playing Pokemon entirely for years. It wasn’t until late 2008 that I bought Diamond and a DS on a whim, and loved it. Gen IV was great and Gen III was overall weak as hell.

1. A perfect meta should always favour semi-defensive/balanced playstyles (ie. 2 to 4 offensive mons per team) and of course be 6v6 singles.
2. USUM should have been a Gen 6 remake in SM's engine.
3. Knock Off should remove Z Crystals & Mega Stones from the opponents. In fact it should even hit already mega evolved pokes for more damage
4. Pokémon needs a reboot where z-moves, every mega (including ash-gren/u-necrozma of course) are retconned from the games.
5. Mix the 16 participants from the Battle Dome (Hoenn), all the modes/characters of the PWT plus 6v6 of course and you have the the perfect battle facility
6. Lando-T AND Metagrossite are perfectly balanced in OU.
7. I dont think I'm going to buy any of the newer games after USUM. The 3DS games aren't bad by themselves but they can't even compare to BW2 or even HG/SS.
8. I expect (but do not want of course) Pokémon to be dead gameplay-wise after the release of the first or last game for the switch.

I hate /vp/'s current game infatuation. I hated when they sucked Gen 3's dick in Gen 5, I hated when they sucked Gen 4's dick last gen, I hated when they sucked Gen 5's dick this gen, and I ESPECIALLY despise how they're starting to suck XYs flawed unfinished cock, and sitting through a whole Gen of it is going to drive me absolutely insane. I love at least one game from each gen, but after seeing the flavor of the month underages call everything else shit because they can't accept people have differing opinions, I grow bitter toward it.

I didn't enjoy the 3ds games a lot mainly because of the transition from 2D to 3D. BW2 was the last game I had fun playing.

Megas were actually interesting, but very poorly distributed. I'd take these over Z-crystals any day.

Speaking of Z-crystals, they're just glorified gems with unnecessarily long animations and a dumb pose. Why not just keep the gems and make them function the way Z-crystals do?

I enjoy playing by Smogon rules, but they're ban a bit too ban happy.

Doubles is more entertaining than Singles.

Gen 1 and 2 had a lot of boring designs.

Gen 4 and 5 had the best meta. I do miss weather wars, honestly.

Breeding for competitive feels like a waste of time in general. GF should give us more items similar to the Bottle Caps, but for Natures and other stuff.

Battle Facilities in general are boring.

The third Generation is my favourite. I think that RSE and ORAS are the best Pokemon games (and I started in Gen 1 with Red Version...Ruby just blew my mind when I picked it up with my first GBA as a teen and no generation since has dethroned it as my personal favourite set of games.)

I believe that the designs of the Pokemon themselves were at their peak/best In Generations 2 and 3.

I was deeply disappointed in Sun and Moon. When USUM came out it is the first time in the history of the franchise I skipped buying and playing a main series Pokemon title.

I think the Sprite-Artwork Pokemon games looked best in generation 4. In Gen 5 with BW and BW2 the awkward tweening of the animated sprites looked blocky, pixelated and ugly to me.
I prefer the squashier, chibi-like models that the 3D games had in Generation 6 over the realistic, lanky proportions used in Generation 7.

I think that Magma/Aqua, Galactic, and Skull are the most engaging, interesting, and cool Villain Teams.

Ultra Beasts were a mistake.

I really, really enjoyed Pokemon Colosseum, gale of Darkness, Channel, and both PokePark games on the Wii.

I want them to make another Pokemon Snap, either for 3DS or the Switch.

That's EXACTLY why people who didn't enjoy Sun & Moon didn't enjoy it. Those two problems alone probably make up 70-80% of the complaints I seem to hear about generation 7. The rest is usually the replacement of the Gym system with shitty Island Trials.

I really like region, I'm even a big fan of backtracking in general. I want reasons to go back to old areas later in the game!
I really didn't like b2w2's dex and pacing, it felt like it was pretty loosely designed and there are little things like the way you obtain the swords of justice that bother me

I'd rather legendaries be given out like Latias, where it's part of the story and you have an encounter that leads to you joining forces

Most of Gen 4's good pokémon are related to older pokémon, and there aren't enough original ones to compensate.

Tepig and Popplio are excellent starters.

I think Ash and the Pokémon anime have more tropes from superhero comics than from actual anime.

I don't like the romance scenes in the games. It'd be okay if the MCs could talk and show expression, but they don't, so GF should either fix that up or relegate that kind of stuff to spin-offs and adaptations.

Origins and Generations weren't good series at all.

Red is one of the most overrated characters ever, period. Not even Goku and Batman are that bad.

The entire EV/IV system has always been bullshit and literally any other RPG that exists has a better stats system. I've played Pokémon since first gen and even if I have my favorite games, etc I feel like I enjoy every single entry in this franchise despite some of them being pretty bad compared to other releases.

I know I am an awful consumer but I don't have any willing to change it. I enjoy the series as I think they're pretty comfy to play and I still have fun after all these years. The basic mechanics are there and some even get improved so I don't have (too) much complains about the franchise. Sorry.

I hate the the more story-heavy approach of these gens. They get in the way of the actual gameplay, especially with the many cutscenes because I don't mind the actual battling part of the story. I already felt it bad enough with ORAS, from which if I wasn't actively using the Exp Share and putting the story on hold several times, my Team would probably have fallen behind everyone and I wouldn't have been able to manage my berry farming. I don't want to even imagine how it is bad on Gen 5 and especially Gen 7, which I have heard that are way plot-centric

They will also inevitably have some annoying character who is either overhyped and stealing the thunder of a game where the MC is supposed to be *me*, like N or Lillie, or someone who is written badly like Zinnia or Lusamine (Who GF simply can't decide if she is a tragic villain or Ragyo)

TL;DR Fuck complex plots, just let me play

There isn't a single generation of Pokemon I dislike because all I really care about is the core gameplay. Making a team and training it as I go on an adventure. Everything else is basically fluff to me. I've enjoyed the games with nonexistent stories and characters just as much as the more recent ones that put more towards these aspects. Games with mechanical issues like DP are infinitely more vexing.

The anime completely fucked up what made Lusamine interesting but made the whole "she was brainwashed by Nihilego" a whole lot clearer than in SuMo, which is much better. She also has an endearing personality and no inconsistencies in the context of the anime story, unlike USUM

After beating SuMO he kinda just fizzled out like a loser, very underwhelming. He's much more dynamic in post-game (and during the climax)

To be fair, perfect IVs are really ever needed for actual competitive battling. If you are just fighting friends or randoms on Plaza, IVs aren't that important. There is a 16 point different in stats between 0 and 31 IVs at level 50. Not a huge issue.
Complaining about EV grind is stupid. I can fully grind a stat to max EVs in 2 minutes.

Alola is a solid region which was utilised decently well. The sea routes (what little there was) was quite bad though.
Lando-T is perfectly fine in OU.
Delta Episode was THE thing that saved ORAS in my eyes. Cool concept, could be better in execution. Wish episodic quests was a thing they would bring up more and fleshed out.

I didn't find Gen 4 slow at all. It's my second favorite gen of all time and I loved DPPt(yes, all 3) more than HGSS. The time and space concept was very interesting to me and the music was comfy and tranquil.

None of the fire starters (not counting evolutions) are any good and all fall into my bottom 10 starters, with Litten being the best.

Of the final evolutions, Emboar, Infernape, and Incineroar are the best. That's not saying they're good, it's just that fire starters are all shit..
