Friend Safari, getting HAs on Pokemon that were only available post-Bank, shiny hunting, and Battle Maison. Amie and clothes customization were a big thing too, since they were new. Also, speculation for what would be changed and included in Z. No one really though there would be sequels.

The Gen 6 anime was not good, it was just a poor man's shonen. There was nothing that wasn't done better in shonen like Dragon Ball or Naruto.

Pokemon was never meant to be shonen. It was and always will be a kodomo.

You know honestly I think gamefreak were testing the waters by making new pokemon have low encounter rates. I wouldn't be surprised if they start decreasing the number of new pokemon and making them "rare". There's no such thing as negative feedback if their sales still stay the same.

Kodomo means aimed at kids, which is the audience the games are aimed at.

Seriously, USUM was what, three months ago? B&W were two whole years after Platinum, which in turn was two years after D&P. SM was two years after ORAS, and so on. Generations last three to four years.

Holidays 2018 for Gen 8 would be surprisingly early.

Tell me what Sun and Moon/ USM did better besides the story?
Considering XY and ORAS didn't make you slog through cut scenes and added much more stuff then SM and USM, I'm pretty sure that XY are better games

Just give up. GF doesn't care about its audience and adds stupid shit all the time. I mean, Mythic Pokemon that can't be obtained by any other means but time-exclusive events requiring codes? What kind of dev decided this was a good idea when your franchise is "Gotta Catch'em all" but add in mythic Pokemon that can't be caught by the majority? Then you have IVs, the hassle of EV training, vitamins are terrible because of their limited uses, permanent natures, and the list goes on. Competitive Pokemon is like Competitive Smash Brothers: It's a fool's errand and these people are better off investing their time in a video game company that actually cares about balance.

It doesn't matter if the next game comes out tomorrow, later this year or in the 24th century. The main series will continue to be mediocre as long as GF and TPC continue to not give a shit. People thought that extra year of development would help SM but it ended up being cobbled together.

Sure, but is there another turn based RPG that has team building to the extent of Pokemon, as well as the wide variety if typings and moves AND can be played online? EV training wasn't really that bad at all though when horde training is a thing and they've shown that they care about these aspects by making it easier and easier to get better ivs and to EV train
IVs are usueless though, but caps have made them much easier to get as well, as destiny knot

If we have any chance of non rushed and GOOD games, it will be the second pair of Switch games(like Gen 9 or Gen 8 non remakes/sequels) because they finally won't be in a hurry to get something out
DLC is also going to remedy this stuff alittle too. I'm hoping the job listing for DLC was real despite Masuda saying they won't do it(he says a lot of stuff and does it anyways though, like customization returning)
