There are people on this board right now who think pokemon switch game wont happen this year only because GF didnt reveal it on Red/Green annivesary day (now Pokemon day)

SM were the 20 annivesary games so it made sense 2 years ago. Switch game is just a brand new game so they can release a direct anytime they want (before lets say July) and they still can do a long and promotion heavy campaign no problem
