You talk about Tentacruel being more original, but Tentacruel actually resembles a jellyfish more than Jellicent
Now you forget about mons that are pretty obvious what they're based on, you forget about Charizard which is just a cartoon dragon, like Dragonite, you forget about Seel and Dewgong which are just cartoon seals, no mention of how Ekans and Arbok are just a cartoon snake and cobra, Bellsprout line being just a cartoon plant, Shellder, etc.
Tell me Blaziken is just a cartoon chicken, or Sceptile, Reuniclus, Escavalier, Chesnaught, etc
Each gen has both more complicated designs and more simple ones, this has been a thing from the start, and I actually prefer Mons being clearly based on whatever theyre based than having to guess it because nothing really fits like Hypno or Electabuzz
