I like the lore. I really hope we get new deeper lore forms for Dialga/Palkia/Giratina/Arceus and a Delta Episode-esque plot in the Gen 4 remakes

The region was extremely enjoyable to explore, almost made up for how slow said exploration was
I also love most mons' designs throught the game, but I'm pretty sure that's not just subjective, but a minority opinion

HMs needed to get anywhere, need at least two HM slave mons for higher level areas
Pretty slow
Some dumbs don't care for the story or (more) competent villains with well thought out plans
Lack of fire 'mons upsets some autists

I honestly completely agree with the slow and HM problems, and feel the most objective. The original dex proves annoying when playing outside of meme or challenge teams.
Even then, I love those games, it's perfectly fine to acknowledge flaws in one's favorite gens. I recommend emulating them and playing for yourself again.

And yeah, your options for fire mons are the starter or ponyta.

HGSS may have been the series peak. Maybe better than B2W2.

Pre-Platinum: Physical/Special split and bringing back Day/Night were good moves. There were too many HMs BUT that meant there were lots of hidden areas to go back to.

Gen 4s only problems come from its pacing. If everything we're a little quicker they'd be more or less perfect Pokemon games.

Am I the only one here who likes that the games are a lot slower than the other games? I feel like the other gens are less memorable to me because I completed them quickly and forgot about them. Gen 4 was great because after I completed it it felt like a genuine accomplishment I put time into.

Fourth post in your reply here. I'm completely fine with the slower nature of the plot. I agree that since events are a little more spaced out and a little longer that it makes it more memorable. I'm talking about the running speed and the speed of battles. The protagonist is a little slow and it wears on me and a lot of other people after a while. I don't necessarily mind the tiles that slow you down like the thick snow or the marshes because it just seems natural but backtracking through those areas if you forget to bring something with fly or in some cases don't even have fly can be exhausting just to wait through in my opinion. I hate the HP scrolling though. Too slow for me. Major downgrade from the quickness of gen 3.

Slow exploration is one thing, slow battles is just not something I can defend. I remember what it felt like OHKOing a blissey, and even as a kid I was shocked at how long it took for its health to go down. I thought the HP bar stopped moving like 10 times. Slow battles just feel tedious to me.

While the teams of the last two gym leaders in Plat are monoteam, I still prefer the DP version. giving The 7th and 8th gym leader one Pokemon of a type, that is SE against a type that is SE against their main type is a great idea and GF should've kept it.

Monotypes are really boring. Though I can appreciate gym leaders for overcoming obvious weaknesses of a mono team I like the idea of themes and more diversity to teams. Flint in DP was an unexpected challenge with how there was a great lack of fire types. But he made due and there was no surefire advantage to pull over him.

Well shit. Sinnoh is a fucking horrendous region though.
Uh, I guess some of the cross gen Evos are pretty cool, I like Yanmega, Mismagius and Ambipom.
Fuck the entire reigon of sinnoh though, I guarantee the majority of people praising it ITT played it as their first games and are riding the nostaliga wagon. DPPt fucking sucked to play,

You don't remember the letdown? I only stopped/dropped Pokémon twice in my life and DP was it, I played it and felt alright about it. Just never really felt like they learned the Johto distribution lesson though and I skipped until HGSS and then revisited Pt after BW while waiting for BW2. The second time was USUM which admittedly was a better third version than most but the cosmetic changes were minimal and the game looks about the same despite loving the designs they made for it

I had a lot of fun playing the game. Great music, fun new Pokemon choices, the Underground was awesome and it was probably the most fun I had playing Pokemon since I was 5-7 playing Yellow for the first time

Holy shit you just reminded me of some good times. I'm a fucking sucker for exploring in pokemon games and doing treasure hunting. Digging up shit underground was addicting as hell. Wish gems weren't so worthless though. Shame exploring and maps have been neutered to hell.
