One of my pokemon got poisoned and the screen starting doing that fucked up thing it used to do when poison. Before that started I happened to use the map accidently. I thought the poison effect was a glitch caused by the map and it was years before I opened a map in a Pokemon game again

I don't think it's autistic at all. Breeding is pretty obsessive, though, like running around looking for a %1 chance Skarmory instead of just taking what you get, and that's considered to be perfectly normal behaviour. I thought those and pic related were footprints of some large cave-dwelling legendary that was super secret to find, tbqh. Not sure that it helped that I believed in stuff like taking the Mossdeep rocket to the moon to find Jirachi/Deoxys too, but I liked the idea of there being things or areas not even guide books knew about and I could discover.

For every step of animation on a Pokeball throw, I pressed my buttons in the following pattern;
Up -> Down -> Left -> Right -> B -> A

I also alternated between A - > B and vice versa when the ball wiggled.

I still do it, I know it doesn't do anything, I've just done it for so long its a hard habit to break.

To be a little more serious, When I throw a ball, I hit B, B, A, B, A, B + A. Not because I thought it would help catch anything. Hadn't even heard that when I started doing it, it just felt right.

Still do it to this day, though it's become more of an internal meme since and I'll do it just when bored.

I was lost in this cave for over an hour until I found the exit. Went back in cause my friend told me there was a Gible in the cave. Got lost again until I realized that I had Escape Ropes. Bought a guide book from a book fair to find where Gible was. Got lost under the cycle road for awhile, also got lost in the Gible Cave for awhile. Found a Gible nonetheless and he's been inside my PC for a long time.

Not sure why as a kid, but I had a weird habit of having my team at the exact same levels at intervals of five. Basically once I had a full team, I would grind them nonstop until they were all five levels higher than from the last gym (like 15 to 20 and then 25 after I got the next badge). I also had started dozens of playthroughs through multiple generations so I've used roughly 90% of all the Pokémon in some way or form.

Mostly being too stupid to memorize type effectiveness. Thought rock was resistant/immune to electric because of Onix and Geodude being Rock/Ground. Or ghost being weak to psychic, not realizing it was because of Gengars poison typing.

On this topic, fuck the anime for establishing you need a ghost type to beat Sabrinas psychic abilities, and Ash catching a Haunter and then beat Sabrina. Only for the game to have only 3 ghost pokemon, who are all weak to psychic, and the only damaging ghost mive having fixed damage.

Still not 100% sure if water and grass are strong to both rock and ground, or just one of them. Still not 100% sure how to handle fairy type.

We thought it was B+Down, which I still sometimes hold for fun (and luck ofc).

Learned a couple of weeks ago that you can change the colour of the screen if you have a original game boy game (pmnk red/blue work) in a game boy colour, and hold any combination of A, B and directions while turning on the game boy. Probably where the "hold B" or hold down+B rumor came from.

I thought kingdra was a gen1 mon because the gen2 leaders use almost exclusively gen1 mons.

I thought azumarill was normal/water because azurill is normal type and I never encountered azumarill in my gen2 playthroughs.

I remember playing Pokemon Blue back in the day the girl standing in the Indigo Plateau would say something like "If you lose against the Elite Four you'll have to start again from the beginning". Of course I took that to mean that my save would be wiped and I'd be transported back to Pallet with no Pokemon so I always hard reset if I was even remotely close to losing at any point to be extra careful.

also b and left to help my attacks on opponents, b and right to make opponents attacks take less hp. a and left and right when pokeball is rocking then when its still hold a and up.

also thinking jigglypuff was the strongest/best pokemon on the game(before id ever played) due to the episode where he sings and puts the whole town to sleep.
