They were shit. I got bored halways through and it took me months to get back to it and finish it.
That being said, they're the best 3ds games we got, which says a lot about the current state of the franchise.

If you wanted Ruby and Sapphire with a little more stuff (my content ass), they were golden, if hurt by mechanical advances and a wasted epilogue.

If you wanted much more than that, I can imagine the consternation of spending the rest of Gen 6 in Hoenn to chase that locked-off Mega goodness (no bueno GF) for seemingly little reason.

They were nice and I like the changes they did adding to the "different timeline" feeling, but still felt like wasted potential, which has always been a GameFreak thing but it became worse since XY

I believe the word you're looking for is different content. There isn't necessarily more, some stuff from Emerald isn't in ORAS and some stuff is in ORAS that wasn't in Emerald.

All Pokemon games are pretty good of course, but ORAS were rushed and barebones as fuck. They also pretty much started the downfall of gamefreak

Listen 3rd gen was my favorite gen, and these remakes were really weak compared to HG/SS.
What I wanted but they didn't deliver:
