>>35032413I fucking adore pinnipeds. Most of what I like about it applies to the whole line, they're very complementary together. The themes carried throughout the line are all very intertwined while following a clear, basic progression that never actually trots on one of the others'. Each one ends up with its own very intrinsic identity yet they are so obviously related. At the end of it, Primarina, there's so many tiny little details to explore and find in its design but none of them overshadow, distract from or take away from the elements of the rest of its design - such as the headphone shape created by its stars and head ornaments. I've spent much more time thinking about the general design backgrounds and intents of this line than any other.
I'm also really glad that they branched out from the basic shape of what a pinniped is - as much as I love the Seel and Spheal lines and even though there is some departure in the form of Spheal's orb shape and Dewgong taking some qualities from dugongs/manatees, all of the previous pinnipeds have been pretty faithful towards source material so I'm happy that the final addition to the trio went against this to provide something fresh. It goes without saying that Primarina is really pretty, too. It's not something I usually care for but it's so strong in this case that I can't deny liking that aspect a bit. Lastly, the line's super fucking goofy. I love goofy. Snot bubbles, man.
And for the record, I do not want to fug it.
