Aegislash is much more powerful defensively than offensively. Ghost/Steel stab even with 150/150 mixed offenses isn't threatening, especially with shit speed.
So the 50/50 flip is a false flag argument. What would determine its viability is how would-be checks can break through its defenses in a worst case scenario. Aegislash would not be centralizing in the following scenarios:
-lots of already viable Steel types in OU meaning its stabs and Toxic are useless
-lots of already viable wallbreaking Ground, Fire, Ghost types that can OHKO it through shield form, forcing it to run subs just to survive
In the current OU meta, the only guaranteed check would be Ash-Greninja, who cannot OHKO it in shield form. You could with a Z-move, but nothing can viably run Firium, Groundium, or Darkium Z-Moves to deal with other Pokemon.
I believe in the conspiracy theory that the council wants Lando-T to be the centralizing OU Pokemon, but Aegislash is too strong for this incarnation of OU. Pseudo base 720 stats, 9 resistances and 3 immunities. Even with shitty stabs that is absurdly powerful.
