BW's seasons were terrible and I hope they never come back. XY did them a lot better by having you go on a theme park tour of a region that robustly transitions through all four seasons (even though winter should have been less segmented).
I always found it weird how some Johto cross-gen evos like Bellossom, Crobat, and Politoed were a complete drastic change from the first two stages of their evolutionary lines (even though I love all three of those Pokemon individually), and found it weird that nobody ever complains about them while constantly shitting on Pokemon like Dragonite and Samurott.
RSE not having a visible day/night cycle did not make them automatic downgrades from GSC, and I think people who complain about that are completely overlooking the huge plethora of innovations and features that gen 3 brought to the table just because some "comfy" mostly-cosmetic feature was left behind.
The series as a whole is in desperate need of a reboot. There are so many alternate forms and special moves at this point (especially because it seems like going forward from gen 6, we're going to have some equally gimmicky new feature take the spotlight every time) that are not only cranking up the powercreep to an unhealthy level, but are causing some SERIOUS item bloat that just makes having an infinite bag that much more cumbersome, due to keeping evolutionary items, held items, mega stones, Arceus plates, Silvally discs, and much much more all in the same pocket. It's time for Gamefreak to cut the fat and dial back these features considerably so that they can invest less time in stupid shoehorned gimmicks and put more energy into crafting a good game again.
