Playing through White - first time in Unova. Been training in the wilderness around Clay's town - Driftveil, I think. Current team:
> Stoutland
He was based even as a Lillipup with Tackle. Now he's a bit bigger, knows Return and Retaliate, and, basically, he doesn't afraid of anything. Hoping that I can find the Sandstorm TM soon so I can take advantage of his ability.
> Munna
Balky as fuck, but slow and kinda weak on the offensive. Honestly just does what Munnas do best - take hits, yawn, attack at a leisurely pace.
> Petilil
So, it annoys me that Grass-types have so few strategies in gen II-III. You've got Sunny Day sets, Giga Drain sets, and not much else. So, now that I'm using a grass-type in gen 5, you'd think I'd pick something else, right? Nope. The temptation of Chlorophyll is just too strong.
> Vanillite
The newest arrival on the team. No idea what I'm gonna do with it.
I'm not particularly thrilled with Unova. The evil team is at least somewhat rational, but no less annoying to fight against, and their leaders areas faggotty as possible. The friendos are much better than in XY, certainly. The 'mons are good enough and have reasonable distribution. However, I keep wating for the point where I start actually navigating the region instead of walking along the prescribed gym leader corridor. Looking at the map, I don't think that point is actually going to come.
I think the animations, being only a dozen or so frames per second, are giving me headaches. I'm playing on an emulator, so turning the window size down to 1x (from 2x) might help. Or maybe the headaches are from something else, I dunno.
I find myself holding down the speed-up button much less than I did even in HGSS. All the little bits of time that add up in battles, like draining HP bars and pauses before and after attack animations, seem to be trimmed down.
