I'm new to the Pokemon, i've just started Emerald and i having a lot of fun but when i checked for evolution on bulbawiki i stumbled upon article about Steven. He has good character design but apparently he's replaced by some faggot Wallace in Emerald as champ.

I DON'T WANT TO FIGHT AGAINST THAT FAGGOT.
I'm confused. How's that explained in story? Gib spoilers i don't care.
Steven lost championship title to Wallace and emerald is set after r/s? Or it's just complete retcon and he was never champion in Emerald?
Also how did that explained in anime?
WHAT THE FUCK DO I CHOSE: MORE CONTENT FROM EMERALD OR BETTER CHARACTERS FROM RUBY/SAPPHIRE?

It's not like he isn't in Emerald. Wallace beats him and becomes the Champion but he's still around. Emerald is objectively better.

Don't know the reason why he was removed as champion in emerald, but I have a feeling it is just a switch in roles for the sake of changing it up. But I'd say go with the more content from emerald over the characters in ruby/sapphire.

You can still fight Steven in Emerald once you've become Champion (and it's a harder fight than when he is the Champion imo), so you may as well go with Emerald. You have to fight Wallace in R/S anyway (he's a Gym Leader instead of the Champion in those games).

The whole Hoenn games are about land vs water. Steven represents land (he's a steel trainer who collects stones) and Wallace represents water. Also Steven is linked with technology and future (Devon corproration) while Wallace is linked to the traditions and past (Sootopolis' Cave of origin and Sky pillar)

Wallace is objectively a better character for a champion even though his battles suck
